Bubbles in the air, sweet young boys, promised a bright future, living symbols of a life after the Holocaust. Their parents had a heavy traumatic past, but they did well and achieved much in society, built social careers that are respected.

Currently a research on the Dutch second generation is running: TreeGenes https://www.treegenes.nl/en/

Focus of the study is on medical effects of long-lasting trauma in descendants. TreeGenes is a multicenter study and combines cardiovascular impact, oral history and epigenetics.
